Biography

Saba Mirzahosseini Barough is a PhD candidate at the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST) at the Politecnico di Torino. Her research focuses on the intersection of participatory planning, digital innovation, and climate change adaptation.
She is developing a participatory Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) designed to empower local communities and stakeholders in the co-design and assessment of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The project aims to create more resilient and sustainable urban environments by integrating local knowledge with scientific data through accessible digital tools.
Working in close collaboration with the LINKS Foundation under the co-supervision of Dr. Stefano Pensa, her methodology combines geospatial analysis, user-centered design, and participatory action research.
Saba holds a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Bologna and has a background in Environmental and Civil Engineering, with work experience in the EU Project Varcities and the broader Nature-based Solutions context. Her work is driven by a commitment to bridging the gap between technological tools, policy-making, and meaningful community engagement to foster equitable and effective climate action.
