Biography

Raffaella Sesana is Assistant Professor in Politecnico di Torino since 2004 for the scientific-disciplinary sector ING-IND/14 Progettazione Meccanica e Costruzione di Macchine; she has been PhD since 1999 in Design and Construction of Machines in Politecnico di Torino. She got the degree in Mechanical Engineering in Politecnico di Milano in 1993 (100/100). She is Assistant Professor of Degree and Master Degree as Constructive Elements of Machines, Dynamic Design of Machines, Construction of Machines, Structural Mechanics, Machine Design. She is author of papers published on journals and/or presented to congresses and conferences. From 2001 she attends two research groups of active job on fatigue of metallic materials, LCF anc HCF damage and life estimation of metallic materials, experimental techniques, thermography, non destructive testing The main themes of research currently in progress are: - Fatigue: analytical and experimental aspects, application of the Thermographic technique to the non destructive determination of the fatigue limit; - Damage criteria for thermo-mechanical fatigue: analytical and numerical comparison between models, development of energetic damage criteria, finite element modeling and evaluation of residual life of mechanical components; - Experimental characterization of materials and components of automotive interest (static, fatigue); - Analysis and development of constitutive models for the cyclic plastic behavior of steels; - Design and numerical simulation (finite element and multi-body codes; structural simulation) of mechanical and automotive components and systems.
