Biography
Her first approach to the research world was during her master's degree thesis project at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, in Bologna.
The project concerned the implementation and validation of a protocol for the mechanical characterisation of articular cartilage by indentation of the osteochondral complex.
After this thesis work, in January 2022, Margherita De Luca started her PhD at the Polytechnic of Turin in collaboration with a Piedmontese company.
The PhD project concerns the design, characterisation and development of an innovative non invasive closed-loop ventilation circuit that delivers CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy, with the final goal of industrialising and commercialising this medical device. CPAP therapy is widely used to treat patients with hypoxemic respiratory failure to avoid the necessity of intensive care.
