Biography

Luigi Cafiero is a PhD candidate at Politecnico di Torino, focusing on non-stationary flood frequency analysis. He earned the Bachelor degree in 2019 in Mechanical Engineering at ''Università degli studi di Genova", and the Master degree in Environmental Engineering (Climate Change) in 2022, with a thesis on the characterization of the Idai cyclone in Beira with a focus on the hydrometeorological extremes in South-Eastern Africa. The thesis was developed within the interdisciplinary master thesis lab "After the Storm. Designing post-cyclone strategies for the city of Beira, Mozambique". Currently, his research is focused on the implementation of an operative procedure to include the variation of precipitation extremes into flood frequency analysis.
