Biography

Elena Cesti is currently a Ph.D. student in Bioengineering and Medical and Surgical Sciences at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy. She obtained her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2024 with a thesis titled “Assessing muscle activation and morphology during gait” carried out in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Medicine department of Amsterdam UMC (VUmc). She previously worked as a Research Fellow, investigating the interindividual synchronization during cooperative motor tasks at the brain, spinal and muscular levels. The main focus of her Ph.D. project is the the development and validation of a multimodal framework integrating HD-EMG with advanced imaging techniques to investigate the spatiotemporal relationships between neural drive, muscle mechanics, and metabolism.
