Biography

Claudio Castiglione graduated in Management Engineering in 2016. After one year involved as a junior research fellow on an FCA project, he started a PhD programme in "Management, Production and Design" funded by the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - Center for Sustainable Future Technologies. The PhD thesis, defended in 2021, investigated the sustainability in manufacturing processes. He has been a post-doc researcher and currently an assistant professor at the Department of Management and Production Engineering since 2021. His research focuses on the analysis and optimisation of manufacturing systems, in particular in the presence of circular economy strategies, considering the technical, economic, and environmental performance of the system. Moreover, he is involved in the development of methodologies and algorithms for the automated generation of simulation models of manufacturing systems.

Scientific branch

IIND-04/A - Manufacturing Technologies and Systems
(Area 0009 - Industrial and information engineering)

Research topics

  • Development of a platform for the automated generation and the alignment of digital twins for manufacturing systems. The digital twins of the systems must be generated by exploiting production data, saved by factory software, through process mining techniques. Digital twins must lead to improved resource management by increasing system environmental sustainability and optimising technical performance.
