Biography

Chiara Deangeli, DIATI- Politecnico di Torino, Italy 1992 MSc Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical specialization, at Politecnico di Torino. 1997 PhD. Geo-environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Title PhD. thesis: “Methods of analysis of debris flow: physical, mathematical and numerical modeling”. 1998 PostDoc at Politecnico di Torino on the subject "Studies on the mechanical behavior of waste granular materials". 2001 Assistant Professor in Geotechnics 2013-present Adjunct Professor “Reservoir Geomechanics/Petroleum Geomechanics” 2013-present Adjunct Professor “Landslides and Slope Engineering/ Slope stability” 2013-2020- Departmental coordinator International Mobility (MSc Petroleum and Mining Engineering, MSc Environmental Engineering) 2018-present Vice-Chair of Education Program in Environmental Engineering at DIATI. RESEARCH ACTIVITY The research activity focuses on the interpretation of laboratory tests and in situ tests and numerical modeling of continuous and discontinuous media. The research is documented by more than 60 scientific papers published in national and international journals, proceedings and book chapters. Main research fields: • Slope stability in rocks and soils with particular emphasis to rapid granular flows and climate change effect on landslide activity. Set up of integrated methods for the definition of debris flow hazard scenarios in Alpine environment, in collaboration with regional agencies. Stability of earth dams/embankments subject to changes in pore water pressures. • Mechanical response of rocks in engineering applications: tunnel stability in saturated porous rocks; wellbore stability in transversely isotropic rocks at large depths; subsidence in sedimentary rocks related to hydrocarbon production; stability of caverns (salt and hard rocks) used in gas storage. Since 1998, Chiara Deangeli collaborated and was research leader in several projects funded by EU, MIUR, and Private Companies, related to soil and rock mechanics in engineering applications. 2019-present. In charge of the research activity "Geomechanics" in the framework agreement Gazprom-Neft-Russia - Politecnico di Torino. LECTURER AND REVIEWER ACTIVITY: She has been invited lecturer in several National and International Workshops in the field of Stability of slopes. 2014-2016. Guest Associate Editor of Frontiers Earth Sciences- Quaternary Science, Geomorphology and Paleo-environment. Topic: Climate impacts on landslides evolution 1998- present reviewer for the following journals: Engineering Geology, Landslides, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, Geotechniques Letters, Soils and Foundations, Water, Energies, Land TEACHING ACTIVITY: 2016-present Reservoir Geomechanics- MSc Petroleum and Mining Engineering Politecnico di Torino 2016-present Landslides and Slope Engineering – MSc Civil and Environmental Engineering Politecnico di Torino 2009 -2016 Petroleum Geomechanics- MSc Petroleum Engineering Politecnico di Torino 2004-2015 Slope stability- MSc Civil and Environmental Engineering Politecnico di Torino 2002-2005 Rock and soil improvement- MSc Civil and Environmental Engineering Politecnico di Torino 2001 Environmental Geotechnics – BEng Environmental Engineering Politecnico di Torino Second level Master: 2018-2019 Reservoir Geomechanics - Second level Master in Energy Engineering and Operations- Eni Corporate University - Politecnico di Torino 2012-2017 Rock Mechanics- Second level Master in Petroleum Engineering and Operations- Eni Corporate University-Politecnico di Torino
