Biography

Carlo Cambini is Full Professor of Industrial Organization in the Department of Industrial Management at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He earned a Ph.D in Public Economics from Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, Italy. He received the Young Economist Essay Award at the 2000 EARIE conference in Losanne (CH). His research focuses on industrial economics, regulatory economics and competition policy with a strong background in telecommunications, transportation, energy markets, and the Internet. He has being published in leading scientific journals such as the RAND Journal of Economics, Journal of Industrial Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, Journal of Comparative Economics. He is economic member of the Scientific Committee of the Florence School of Regulation – Communications and Media, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies – European University Institute (EUI), Florence. He has been invited as Keynote speaker at the following international Conferences: • The 13th ACCC Regulatory Conference (Brisbane, July 2012), organized by the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission, with two keynotes on the performance of mixed owned network companies and on EU telecom regulatory framework; • Inaugural Conference on Competition and Regulation (Wellington, October 2013), organized by the New Zealand Commerce Commission, with a lecture on the impact of technological convergence on the regulatory interventions on communication markets; • 1st IRG Internal Capacity-Building Workshop on NGA/NGNs, Frauenfeld (Switzerland), 14-17 April 2014, organized by the IRG (Independent Regulators Group), the network of independent European telecom regulators, with a lecture on the economic regulation of NGA networks and the effect of access regulation on fibre investment.
