Research interests
Biography
The researcher’s ongoing studies address the development of diagnostic frameworks for rotating machinery through vibration analysis. By monitoring the machine signature—the characteristic features derived from accelerometer-based vibration signals—over time, it becomes possible to identify the underlying causes of vibration and to anticipate damage or wear in critical components. This line of research builds on two complementary directions: - Advanced signal processing, employed to isolate and enhance damage-sensitive features within complex vibration responses. - Machine learning techniques, applied to automatically detect anomalies and novelties in the extracted features. When operational and environmental confounders are accounted for, such anomalies can be reliably associated with structural degradation. The main objective is the development of a robust, data-driven diagnostic framework that can be integrated into predictive maintenance strategies. Such integration enhances operational safety while simultaneously reducing costs across industrial applications.
