Biography

Alessandra is a young researcher with a Ph.D. in Geomatics (2023 - School of Architectural and Landscape Heritage at the Polytechnic University of Turin, XXXV cycle). She focuses on the spatial documentation of cultural heritage, combining historical resources and Geomatics techniques. Her research focuses on: developing geodatabases and webGIS; digitization, cataloging, and online visualization of historical documents following international standards and thesauri; data acquisition, processing, and testing for documenting cultural heritage with innovative technologies (such as Solid State LiDAR in Apples devises and Mobile Mapping Systems). She is the author of numerous publications in national and international journals (8 h-index and +200 citations on Scopus). She currently collaborates with and has served for numerous national and international projects: Turin 1911 project (2018-ongoing, finances by the University of California San Diego), Heritalise (2025-2028, Horizon 2023), Common Grounds (2024-2025, European Cultural Foundation), Andar per Mare (2023-ongoing, financed by Regione Puglia), Archim3des (2023-2025, PRIN 2022), Ruritage (2018-2022, Horizon 2020), BACK TOP THE FUTURE (2017-2018, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo). Alessandra undertook three research periods abroad at the University of California San Diego (6 months). She has served as a teaching assistant at the Polytechnic University of Turin since 2018 for courses related to Geomatics.
