Biography

My research explores the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning, with a focus on developing new algorithms and architectures through rigorous modelling. A central part of my work involves applying Machine Learning to the natural sciences, including the analysis of whale vocalizations and the detection of gravitational waves.
From a theoretical perspective, my research concentrates on decentralized and privacy-preserving Artificial Intelligence, particularly Federated Learning. In this context, I investigate the connections between decentralized optimization, particle systems, physics, and social theory.
In collaboration with Eltek S.p.A., I study mathematics- and physics-informed Machine Learning for the design of efficient solutions in smart sensing, with applications ranging from healthcare to real-time humidity estimation and calibration.
In the final year of my PhD, I will focus on generative models, with an emphasis on their applications to molecular dynamics.
