Biography

Teresa Monti is born in Palermo on December 25, 1998. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Engineering from the University of Palermo and a Master’s degree in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Torino. During her academic journey, she takes part in two Erasmus programs: the first at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona during her Bachelor's studies, and the second at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP) during her Master’s.
She works for one year as an E-commerce Consultant at Remazing GmbH, where she initially carries out her curricular internship and then continues for an additional six months. She subsequently obtains a research fellowship at Politecnico di Torino in collaboration with the Turin Chamber of Commerce, focusing on technological evolution in the context of industrial reconversion.
Since November 2023, she is a Ph.D. candidate in Management Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Her research adopts two main perspectives: Technology Management and Innovation and Technology Management and Design. In line with these, she is a member of the “Innovation Management and Product Development” research group and of the Design Society, an international academic community dedicated to Engineering Design.
During her doctoral studies, she is involved in teaching activities in the Innovation Management and Product Development courses for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She also takes part in mentorship and tutoring activities within the Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP) honour program and the Challenge@PoliTo_by Firms program at Politecnico di Torino, supporting students in projects developed in collaboration with external companies.
As part of her research activities, in 2024 she spends six months within the Public Administration, at the Turin Chamber of Commerce. During this period, she contributes to the development of the Osservatorio delle imprese innovative project, aimed at analysing the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Municipality of Turin, with a particular focus on levels of investment in technology and digitalisation.
Furthermore, from September 2025 to March 2026, she undertakes a six-month international research stay at CentraleSupélec in Paris. This phase of her research focuses on exploring the concept of digital affordance and investigating how user–artefact interactions evolve in the context of digital transformation.
As part of her doctoral program, Teresa takes part in a variety of training activities aimed at developing both technical (hard skills) and transversal (soft skills) competencies. Among the soft skills courses are: Communication, Communication and Dissemination for Impact in EU Projects, Public Speaking, and Writing Scientific Papers in Engineering. Hard skills courses include: Human-AI Interaction, Data Engineering for Studies in Economics and Innovation, Lean Approach in Manufacturing, Management and Innovation, Modeling Complex Systems in Engineering and Management, Design of Industrial Experiments, and Research Design and Methodologies in Management Engineering.
Her educational experience also includes participation in the Engineering Design Research Summer School (SSEDR’24).
