Biography

CAREER I pursued my doctoral studies at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (Bilbao, Spain) within the INPhINIT "la Caixa" / Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD Fellowship program and obtained my Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of the Basque Country (Spain) in January 2021. Following my doctorate, I was awarded a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Granada (Spain). From July 2021 to May 2024, I worked as a research fellow in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Politecnico di Torino, contributing to the project "Nested Models in Biomedicine." After a subsequent postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Parma, I began my current appointment as a Junior Assistant Professor (RTD-a) at the Politecnico di Torino in April 2025. RESEARCH My research lies in the field of mathematical biology, with a focus on mathematical and computational modeling of biological and medical phenomena. My work centers on the development, analysis, and numerical simulation of deterministic multiscale models, as well as on the derivation of macroscopic descriptions from microscopic and more detailed representations. This approach enables the study of how diverse microscopic behaviors interact to generate emergent large-scale phenomena. My research is highly interdisciplinary and involves close collaborations with researchers in the natural and life sciences. A key aspect of my work is integrating biological and clinical data into theoretical frameworks to improve both model relevance and predictive power. Current research interests include modeling cell migration in heterogeneous environments, tumor invasion dynamics, and the analysis of novel therapeutic treatment protocols and tumor response.
