Biography
Dr. Sumer Singh Singhwal is a Research Professor (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He is the Principal Investigator of the project “Wireless Smart Healthcare System for Early Oral Cancer Diagnosis Using Implanted Dental Antenna”, funded by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR) with a budget of €250,000. He received his PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Uttarakhand Technical University, India, in 2020. His research focuses on electromagnetics, microwave engineering, dielectric resonator antennas (DRA), implantable antennas, MIMO antennas, and biomedical wireless systems. Dr. Singhwal has academic and research experience in both Europe and India. He previously worked as Associate Professor and Associate Dean (Academic Affairs) at Chandigarh University (India) and conducted postdoctoral research at Politecnico di Torino on tunable dielectric resonator antennas. He has authored numerous SCI-indexed publications in reputed journals such as IEEE Access, IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, IEEE Microwave Magazine, Electronics, Wiley and AEU International Journal of Electronics and Communications. His work has received 178+ citations (Scopus) with an h-index of 8. Dr. Singhwal is a reviewer for several international journals including IEEE Access, IEEE TAP, IEEE AWPL, Scientific Reports (Nature), IET MAP, and MDPI Sensors. He served as Session Chair at the IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation 2025 (Ottawa, Canada). His research interests include dielectric resonator antennas, implantable antennas for biomedical sensing, RF circuits, wireless sensing systems, microwave imaging, and AI-assisted antenna design.
