Biography

Hi! I’m Angelo, born in 1998, and currently a PhD student (Cycle 40) in AI for Industry.
After earning my Bachelor’s in Engineering Physics and my Master’s in Nanotechnologies for ICT at Politecnico di Torino — where I also worked as a teaching assistant in some of my favorite courses — I spent about a year and a half at Stellantis as a Test Specialist.
After a while, though, I started feeling stuck in the routine of a “stable job,” and I realized I wasn’t done learning yet. With the encouragement of some of my professors from my Master’s, I got the chance to start this PhD, which immediately caught my interest — both for the topic and for the challenge. I’ve always loved simulation work (my best academic experiences involved Monte Carlo methods for optoelectronic devices), and since my group hadn’t worked on SPADs before, it felt the perfect compromise between challenging and interesting.
Outside of research, I have way too many nerdy hobbies: video games, tinkering with computers, Magic: The Gathering, board games, manga… you name it. Luckily, I still find some time to go out and party — though I’m not sure how long that’ll last! :')
