Federico Smeacetto (PhD) is Associate Professor of Materials Science and Technology at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His research interests

have been focused on glass and ceramics as joining and coating materials and currently deal with required engineering solutions for the

design, development and characterization of functional glass-ceramics and ceramics for energy conversion and storage (sealing glasses

and spinel ceramic coatings for solid oxide cells by electrophoretic deposition (EPD), glass-ceramic coatings for thermoelectric materials

and glass-ceramic electrolytes for all solid state Li-Na-battery).

Prof. Smeacetto holds National Scientific Habilitation – Full Professor of Materials Science and Technology from 16/9/2019. He has been

post-doc and visiting scientist with fellowships at Department of Materials - Imperial College (Prof. A R.Boccaccini) in 2006, AGH (Krakow)

in 2009 and University of Hertforshire, UK in 2008. He is Chair of Advanced glasses and glass-based components for PhD students at

Politecnico di Torino, Italy and chair and co-chair of Materials Science and Technology, Advanced Ceramics and Advanced materials for

Energy BSc and MSc courses at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He is Member of GLANCE (Glasses, ceramics and composites) of Politecnico

di Torino, since 20 years and Member of KMM-VIN-European Virtual Institute on Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials AISBL-since

2009.

He is principal investigator for EU projects at POLITO: "GrInHy"-Green Industrial Hydrogen via Reversible High-Temperature Electrolysis,

H2020, GA-700300; "NEWSOC" Next Generation solid oxide fuel cell and electrolysis technology H2020-GA874577. "SOLSTICE" Sodium-

Zinc molten salt batteries for low-cost stationary storage, H2020, GA n. 963599 and "BEST4HY" SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR

RECYCLING OF EoL Hydrogen TECHNOLOGIES, GA 101007216.

He is member of The American Ceramic Society and he is recently (Oct 2020) been awarded with The Acers Global Ambassador.
