Biography

I have got my master in biomedical engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2021, specialising in biosignal processing. My master thesis, titled ‘Automating REM Sleep Without Atonia Scoring Methods’, is about the scoring of REM sleep without atonia (RSWA) with automatic methods, RSWA is in fact pivotal in the study of early stages of Parkinson’s disease, but it’s a particularly cumbersome task for clinicians, because it’s done by the visual inspection of many hours of various biosignals (especially EEG and EMG).
After my Master, I followed my research interests in neuroscience working as a research fellow for the neuroscience department of the University of Turin. In particular, I’m interested in the study of the wide variety of symptoms of the neurodegenerative diseases, including the emotional and stress related ones, using objective and quantitative measurements, like neurophysiological signals. I'm now focusing on this topics as a PhD student in computer and control engineering in Smilies group.
