Biography

Chiara Vercellino holds an MSc degree in Mathematical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, obtained in 2020. She is currently a PhD student in Computer Engineering at the DAUIN Department, affiliated with the GRAINS research group. She is also an expert researcher in the CPE (Advanced Computing, Photonics, and Electromagnetics) area at Fondazione LINKS. Her primary focus is the design and development of quantum computing algorithms, particularly those related to optimization and machine learning. The ultimate aim of her PhD research is to help bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications in the field of quantum computing. She is a member of the SRA-6 Working Groups "Energy Efficiency & Sustainability" and "Quantum+HPC" at ETP4HPC, as well as the QuIC Ecosystem Working Group. She is an NGI Enrichers Fellow, collaborating with the SQMS Center at Fermilab on the NISQ-EMU project, which aims to design and implement NISQ-aware quantum algorithms for industrial use cases.
