Biography

Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with a background as an Aerostructures Engineer and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Specialized in developing design methodologies for the structural analysis of metamaterials and cellular solids, focusing on additively manufactured metal lattice structures, using both FEM and analytical models as tools. Proficient in mechanical design for custom test setups supporting characterization, validation, and static/fatigue testing of diverse components. Experienced with structural analysis tools (Ansys, HyperMesh/OptiStruct, Patran/Nastran) and CAD software (SolidWorks, nTopology). Active contributor to Horizon Europe projects (MIMOSA) with pan-European industrial partners, and initiatives funded by public entities and private foundations (SMARTAIR).

Research topics

  • Design and optimization methods for AM lattice structure, in particular to enhance mechanical properties such as energy absorption and fatigue.
  • Design of multimaterial joints between AM AlSi10Mg - CFRP for aeronautical applications, from the MIMOSA Horizon project (Multimaterial airframes based on 3D joints between additively manufactured metals and carbon-fiber composites).
  • Design of multimaterial joints for eVTOL landing gear systems, with sensors printed via inkjet technology for structural health monitoring implementation.
