Biography

Andrea Pignata received his Master's degree in Computer Engineering, with a focus on Embedded Systems, from Politecnico di Torino in 2022. He is now a member of the Electronic Design Automation Group as a PhD student. His research focuses on the fields of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and Neuromorphic Computing, with the goal of optimizing the execution of Artificial Intelligence algorithms on constrained hardware leveraging heterogeneous hardware and novel computing paradigms. He received his PhD grant from EBRAINS-Italy and is actively working on activities related to that project.

His primary objective consists in the development of a framework that cover different aspects of the engineering process of edge-based AIoT sensor solution, covering from the design up to the operation phases. Currently, he is working on a prototyping platform for heterogeneous AI algorithms allowing development and deployment of AI models on different hardware, and on a sensor framework allowing time-synchronized data acquisition from multiple sources.

Throughout his research, he engaged in close collaboration with the teams at SmartData, Politecnico di Torino and Telluride Neuromorphic Cognition Engineering with the objective of developing innovative techniques in the field of neuromorphic computing leveraging cutting-edge hardware and software technologies
