Abstract
BATT-BRIDGE is a three-year Coordination and Support Action, composed by 16 partners from 10 different countries, designed to strengthen the European battery research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem and maximise the impact of the Batt4EU Partnership. The project responds to the persistent fragmentation of Europe’s battery R&I landscape by providing a centralised digital platform and community space that connects research, industry, and policy, ensuring transparency, alignment, and excellence across all levels. The project will deliver a comprehensive, user-driven digital platform acting as a one-stop entry point for European and global battery R&I data. It will integrate information on projects, funding calls, strategies, KPIs and roadmaps, benchmarked internationally, and presented through interactive dashboards and smart tools.
This will support evidence-based policymaking, accelerate industrial uptake of research outcomes, and improve the efficiency of public and private R&I investments. In parallel, BATT-BRIDGE will animate the European battery community through excellence webinars, thematic workshops, the Annual Conference, and the Battery Innovation Days, fostering dialogue between academia, industry, policymakers, and citizens. Young scientists and early-career researchers will be actively engaged through dedicated events and training to secure Europe’s talent base. By coordinating activities with key initiatives such as BEPA, EBA250, NRCG, IPCEIs, and international partners, the project will strengthen alignment of national, European, and global agendas. BATT-BRIDGE will also develop and validate a sustainable governance and business model for the platform, ensuring its persistence beyond the CSA. Ultimately, BATT-BRIDGE will deliver accurate, up-to-date monitoring of the European and global battery R&I landscape, foster excellence and openness in science, and consolidate Europe’s leadership in batteries as a cornerstone of the green and digital transitions.
