Abstract
The project aims to produce plastic components for automotive industry based on: 1. Recycled Plastics (RPs) from fishing nets 2. Bio-Composites (BCs) based on bioplastics RP blends derive from discarded HDPE and PA6 fishing nets using epoxidized waste vegetable oils as bio-based compatibilizer, and biochar to replace traditional petroleum-based carbon black. BCs derive from bio-based PA11 polymer loaded with biochar and recycled fibers to replace traditional glass and carbon fibers. An experimental campaign will be conducted to select the best performing formulations in terms of processability and thermomechanical performance. 20-30 kg of pellets of selected RPs and BCs will be provided to an Automotive Industrial Partner to produce plastic components for the automotive sector by injection molding and FDM/FGF 3D printing. The products obtained will be validated for the final application against industrial requirements and compared to traditional plastic ones for their potential scalability.
