Abstract
In fluid mathematics, the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations are a set of highly non-linear partial differential equations. They are two of the most challenging continuum models. The mathematical modelling and solution of these equations is considered the greatest challenge in continuum modelling of physical phenomena. The EU-funded ARIA project will develop mathematical methods for constructing predictive reduced-order models (ROMs) to simplify them with accuracy, reliability and efficiency that is guaranteed. It will propose new approaches to solving this challenging topic, which was selected as the principal focus because of its intrinsic importance. The challenges will be tackled through a staff exchange programme by combining the unique expertise of the project's extended research team that includes leading EU universities and research centres as well as young start-ups and large industrial groups.
