Abstract
The target of the project is to create an integrated system capable of generating, collecting, and measuring non-exhaust particulate matter (PM) during all stages of tire development, from compound development to vehicle validation, allowing actions to be taken to reduce and mitigate them. The system will include: -A lab machine capable of measuring tire wear PM generation for different tread compound solutions at various severities, temperatures, and surfaces -A measurement station for PM generation from different tires under various conditions on the Indoor Drum Wear machine -An appropriately equipped electric or hybrid car to measure tire wear PM generated both indoors on a vehicle chassis dynamometer and outdoors on a track. The vehicle will have the brake separated from the tire and during outdoor tests it will include a system to discern the source of collected non-exhaust PM among tire wear, road wear, brake wear and resuspension. -Data collection and analysis using most advanced techniques.
