RESEARCH SUPERVISOR SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Research supervision is arguably the highest form of teaching in higher education and a successful outcome for all stakeholders, pivots on the professional relationship established between doctoral candidate and supervisor.
Politecnico di Torino is running a compact two-day programme, which explores all aspects of research supervision, from determining the characteristics of good doctoral candidates, managing progression, skills acquisition, preparation for the final defence and supervisor reflection, with a view to enhancing one’s own practice. The programme will include perspectives from experienced supervisors and research students, professional staff and experts in the field.
his is a great opportunity for new and experienced supervisors, to consider and revisit their approaches to research supervision, in a programme informed by excellence in International practice.

Research Supervisor Support & Development Programme at Conference Room Ciminiera (DAUIN):
- 22 February 2024 from 9.00 to 14.30
- 23 February 2024 from 9.00 to 13.00

The programme has been realized with the support of dr. Janet Carton, Head of Education at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland who designed and implemented an innovative and bespoke framework for support, professional development, and recognition of research supervisors at UCD.

Participation will be open with priority to around 30 RTD-Bs already working as supervisors. In the event of applications exceeding the number of places available, participants will be selected in such a way as to ensure representation from all PhD programmes, gender balance and a mix of different supervisory experiences.

The course is delivered in English.
