Planning and managing your own research career
How do you plan for your next step in your career and how do you develop actions and steps towards it? Which skills are important for your career development as a researcher and which areas should you focus on developing taking into account your career aspirations?
This training consists in a webinar and 11 individual coaching sessions.
Webinar - December 14th, h 10-14
This webinar introduces participants to the concept of career and professional development planning and guides them through the process of identifying their strengths as researchers and possible areas for development, with a view to planning their next steps of their careers.
By the end of the session, you will have had an opportunity to:
- gain some insights into what your career goals and aspirations might be
- look more closely at where you are now, your career motivations and how your priorities are reflected in your current career and activities
- become more aware of the options that you have and how you may want to plan that exploration
- take active steps towards planning your career.
This will be an interactive and informative session which will provide you with a set of tools, methodologies and models that will help you gain clarity around the importance of career development and it will provide you with a model to help you explore your next steps. The session will allow discussion, active participation and planning.
Individual coaching sessions
The webinar will be followed by 11 one-to-one individual coaching sessions to go deep in the topic and tailor-make the tools and methods introduced during the webinar. These sessions will take place at the following dates and schedules:
15th December h 10-11; 12-13; 14:30-15:30; 16:30-17:30
16th December h 12-13; 14-15
11th January h 15-16
12th January h 15-16
13th January h 15-16
14th January h 10:30-11:30, h 13-14
The trainer is Daniela Bultoc.
Winner of the Times Higher Education Awards and recognised at a UK national level in three consecutive years for outstanding support for researchers and academics, Daniela is a Vitae national Senior Fellow Researcher Developer and an experienced organisational development consultant, emotional intelligence coach and personal development skills trainer at an international level.
With over 12 year experience of working in Higher Education, until recently she was the lead for all research staff and research student development programmes at University College London (UCL); this is one of the largest researcher development programmes in the UK with over 130 learning and development sessions for Early Career Researchers and over 700 sessions for PhDs. Her last role at UCL was as Head of Communities of Practice at UCL – where the project won the 2019 UHR Awards and was recognised for best organisational change initiative in Higher Education.
Daniela is a highly regarded professional and international researcher developer who seeks to support and inspire research staff and academics to reach their potential.
Enrollment by December 8th.
The webinar is open to the academic staff, up to 24 participants with priority to AdR, RTD-A, RTD-B, following the first come, first served principle
The 11 individual coaching sessions are open up to 11 partcipants among those who have attended the webinar, with priority to AdR, RTDA and RTDB. Precedence will be given to one participant for each Department following the first come, first served principle.
The participants will receive the instructions to connect to the webinar and prepare their individual sessions after December 8th.
