UzAuto leadership and TTPU Tashkent Rector visit Politecnico

Chairman Rozukulov then took the podium in the “Emma Strada” Hall for his Lectio Magistralis, titled “Uzbekistan’s automotive sector: current developments for a global outlook”, a presentation on the current condition of the automotive industry in Uzbekistan, sharing a broad view of future perspectives, also within the framework of the already long-standing collaboration with Politecnico and Turin industrial ecosystem. Rozukulov has a central role both in the Uzbek automotive sector and in the consolidation process of academic ties with Italy. He has been Chairman of the Board of Uzautosanoat since March 2023 and is also an Honorary Professor at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent. His connection with TTPU is deep: he has contributed significantly to its foundation, the construction of its facilities, the provision of modern teaching laboratory equipment, and the development of relationships with Italian partners. His Lectio offered a complete perspective on the strategic modernization and global integration of Uzbekistan's automotive industry, tracing the sector's trajectory from the post-Soviet industrial restructuring of the 1990s to its current position as the main automotive manufacturing hub in Central Asia, contributing over 4.6% of national GDP and employing more than 30 thousand people.

The visit of the delegation and Chairman Rozukulov's lectio at PoliTO not only strengthened the solid ties between Uzbekistan and Italy – these days Rector Corgnati went back to the Asian country, on a mission led by Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – in key sectors such as mechanical engineering and education, but also offered an in-depth vision of the significant progress and strategic vision of the Uzbek automotive industry, with the goal of improving, also thanks to the solid ties between Politecnico and TTPU, its capacity for innovation and institutional development, to achieve economic improvement and international competitiveness.
