PoliTO at 2025 EAIE Conference

Over 7,000 higher education professionals from more than 100 Countries participated in the annual EAIE – European Association for International Education – conference, held in Gothenburg (Sweden) from September 9th to 12th. Politecnico di Torino took part in the event - which hosted over 200 international exhibitors - within the "Study in Italy" pavilion, where more than 30 Italian universities were represented alongside the Uni-Italia Association.
By attending this event, the University reaffirms its commitment to strengthening relationships with academic institutions in Europe and beyond, promoting new forms of cooperation and dialogue on key topics related to higher education and internationalization.
The theme of the 35th edition of the EAIE conference was "GO-create", a call to action to foster collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation among higher education institutions. Through a series of meetings and thematic sessions, the conference served as an opportunity to pursue a path of sustainability, inclusion, and innovation in education on a global scale.

The delegation of Politecnico, led by Professor Marco Sangermano, Director of Incoming and Outgoing Internationalization activities, and composed of staff from the International Affairs Office(INCAM)and the Students and Education Department (STUDI), met with representatives from universities in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Hong Kong, Mexico, Nigeria, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, Uruguay, and the USA, to strengthen existing relationships and establish new contacts and bilateral collaborations as well as cooperation within international networks and alliances.
During a networking event hosted by INDIRE together with Uni-Italia, the Uni-Italia pavilion welcomed the visit of H.E. Lorenzo Solinas, Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Stockholm. The Politecnico delegation also took part in two training sessions: Carlos Castro from the Students and Education Department chaired the session “From the international to the intercultural: Decentering dominant knowledge in European classrooms” and gave the talk “Beyond magical thinking: Fostering global competence in a European university alliance”, which focused on interculturality as a resource for developing the internationalization of higher education, also taking inspiration from the experience gained within the European University Alliance Unite!.
As Professor Sangermano stated “it has been a real pleasure to join colleagues, partners, and friends from all over the world at the EAIE: European Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition. These moments remind us how vital internationalization is for higher education: building bridges across cultures, fostering academic cooperation, and opening new opportunities for our students and researchers. At Politecnico di Torino, we firmly believe that global connections are the key to innovation and societal impact. Events like EAIE are not only about networking, but about shaping the future of education together”.
