Politecnico di Torino Renews Double Degree Agreement with EURECOM
During a visit to Politecnico di Torino by a delegation from EURECOM on June 26–27, the long-standing double degree agreement between the two institutions—originally established over a decade ago—was officially renewed. This move further consolidates a strategic partnership based on academic excellence, impactful research, and a shared international vision.
On the first day of the visit, the French delegation was welcomed by representatives of our University, including the Vice Rector for International Affairs Alberto Sapora, Professor Alessandro Ferrari, Adjunct Vice Rector for Research Model and Infrastructures, Professor Matteo Cocuzza, Coordinator of the MSc Programme in Quantum Engineering, and Professor Paolo Camurati, EURECOM’s academic contact at Politecnico. The official meeting was followed by a guided tour of the main campus, the Quantum Computing Laboratory, the interdepartmental centres PhotoNext and CARS, and the LINKS Foundation.
On the second day, during the General Assembly of EURECOM Consortium Members, the renewal of the partnership agreement between the two institutions was officially formalized. The agreement, signed by Deputy Rector Elena Baralis on behalf of Politecnico di Torino and by EURECOM Director David Gesbert, further strengthens the strategic collaboration that has been ongoing for over a decade.
Founded in 1991 through a joint initiative of Télécom Paris and EPFL, EURECOM is a world-class graduate school and research centre based in Sophia Antipolis. Politecnico di Torino has been a member of the consortium since 1993, actively contributing to its scientific and strategic initiatives. Since 2021, Professor Paolo Camurati, from the Department of Control and Computer Engineering (DAUIN), has served as President of the General Assembly of Members—a position reconfirmed in 2024.
Thanks to the double degree agreement, each year approximately twenty outstanding Politecnico students are selected to undertake an integrated academic path at EURECOM in areas such as telecommunications, computer science, electronics, data science, media, and cybersecurity. Upon completion of their studies, participants receive both an Italian degree and either the French diplôme d’ingénieur or the diplôme national de master, awarded directly by EURECOM.
Beyond student mobility, the partnership also extends to joint research initiatives, including PhD programmes and collaborative projects—an effective model of international cooperation that bridges advanced education, applied research, and industry engagement.
Participants in the June 27 General Assembly included representatives from leading academic and industrial members of the EURECOM Consortium, such as Aalto University, TUM, CTU Prague, EDHEC, Gen Digital, SAP Labs France, Orange, and the Government of the Principality of Monaco.
“EURECOM is a key strategic partner for Politecnico di Torino – said the Deputy Rector Elena Baralis – Renewing the double degree agreement further strengthens our European and international dimension, reaffirming our role at the core of global academic excellence networks”.
