On the occasion of the governmental bilateral meeting between Uzbekistan and Italy - held on Thursday, May 28 - in the presence of Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, PoliTO signed an agreement with the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov. The agreement provides support for the definition of a national strategy to guide the energy transition, with particular attention to the development of "green" hydrogen production in Uzbekistan.

The initiative aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two countries, exploring how hydrogen innovations can support the green transition and foster industrial collaborations oriented towards the circular economy. In this context, Politecnico and the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent are partnering on a joint program on the green hydrogen value chain. "The energy transition plays a central role in our Campuses and international hubs and allows us, by working closely with the industrial system, to expand our educational and research offerings at the Tashkent campus, particularly on energy and environment topics," commented PoliTO Rector Stefano Paolo Corgnati.

The program covered by the agreement includes training activities to develop advanced skills and support the definition of energy policies and regulatory reforms in Uzbekistan, with a focus on the integration of renewable sources into the national energy mix.

A cornerstone element is the design and implementation of a pilot plant for the production and use of hydrogen in public transport, which will be a true "living lab" useful not only for research and innovation but also for making the advantages of hydrogen known and fostering greater understanding and trust among citizens.
