Politecnico among the universities attending the inauguration of the new buildings of the Italy Azerbaijan University in Baku, in the presence of President Mattarella
Politecnico, represented by Vice-Rector Elena Baralis, participated today in Baku in the inauguration ceremony of the first buildings of the Italy Azerbaijan University, hosted on the campus of ADA University, in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, welcomed by the Rector of ADA University, Hafiz Pashayev.
Founded by President Ilham Aliyev during his state visit to Italy in 2020, ADA University signed academic cooperation agreements in 2022 with Politecnico di Torino and five other leading Italian universities (Università Luiss Guido Carli, Università La Sapienza di Roma, Università Alma Mater di Bologna and Politecnico di Milano). This partnership brings Italian expertise in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, creative industries, crafts and technological development through education and research to Azerbaijan, playing an important role in training future professionals for strategic sectors such as engineering, agriculture and the food industry, architecture and design.
Today, 538 undergraduate students and 102 master's students are enrolled in eight undergraduate and two master's programmes, three of which are dual degrees (currently with Politecnico in Electrical Engineering, but other joint programmes are in the pipeline).
The academic programmes involving Politecnico di Torino cover the Engineering disciplines. Currently, the first Bachelor's Degree activated is Electrical Engineering.
At the end of the visit, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Italy met with senior representatives of Italian universities, including Vice-Rector Elena Baralis, professors and students from the Italian-Azerbaijani University.
"Today's event, with the participation of President Mattarella, seals the international collaboration between Italian universities and ADA University, highlighting the importance of higher education and technology transfer as cultural bridges between Italy and Azerbaijan", commented Elena Baralis.
