Michele Bonino, professor of Architectural and Urban Design and director of the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) at the Politecnico di Torino, has been awarded the prestigious title of Honorary Professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), one of the most important universities in China.

The title was conferred by Rector Han Jiecai during a ceremony attended by Vice-Rectort Liu Jian and, representing the Politecnico di Torino, Carla Fabiana Chiasserini from the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET), Elena Dellapiana from the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD), and Alessandra Guidi, Science and Technology Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in China.

The first bilateral agreement between the Politecnico di Torino and HIT dates back to 2009, when a double degree program in Architecture was launched. This cooperation has grown and strengthened over time, with increasing international exchanges and shared objectives.

Recently, two initiatives have been launched: the Co-Run program in Smart Building and Construction, supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Joint Lab Green and Low-carbon Urban Regeneration. These initiatives aim to expand student mobility opportunities and promote the participation of Politecnico faculty in teaching at HIT, while strengthening joint collaboration in theoretical and applied research projects in the fields of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Professor Michele Bonino stated: "I am very grateful to HIT for this appointment, which synthesizes fifteen years of collaboration and commitment here in Harbin, involving many colleagues from the Politecnico di Torino. It is both an honor and a responsibility: I will strive to play a bridging role, work on new forms of collaboration, and dedicate myself to strengthening the international influence of both institutions."
