Celebrating the First Graduates of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master HySET

On Friday, October 10th, the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program Hydrogen Systems and Enabling Technologies (HySET) took place in the evocative setting of the Valentino Castle, the historic seat of Politecnico di Torino. The program is promoted and coordinated by the Energy Department “Galileo Ferraris” – DENERG of the University. This symbolic and highly significant moment marked an important milestone both for the students and for the entire program, which was established with the aim of training engineers specialized in the hydrogen sector—key players in the energy transition of the future.
The event opened with remarks from the program coordinator, Professor Massimo Santarelli, who reviewed the key stages of the academic journey, emphasizing the shared commitment, the personal and professional growth of the students, and the meaning and responsibility of this first graduating cohort.
Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Professor Alberto Sapora, followed, delivering institutional greetings on behalf of the Rector.
The Project Officer from the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), Elisa Maviglia, participated remotely, highlighting in her speech the high quality of the training provided by the Consortium and stressing the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and education to meet the demands of the labour market.
A particularly heartfelt moment came with the speeches of the Local Coordinators, who wanted to share a personal message with the students, expressing pride for their achievements and congratulating them on their work. In particular, speeches were given by Professor Gianluca Valenti from Politecnico di Milano, Professor Attila Husar from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Professor Thijs de Groot from Eindhoven University of Technology, and Professor Yiliu Liu from Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
The industrial partners involved in the project also played a prestigious role. These leading organizations, driven by an innovative vision and excellent expertise, not only concretely support the program but also embody its collaborative spirit. Evren Unsal (Shell), Filippo Rizzi (Snam), Marta Bucelli (Sintef), Ranveig Niemi (Safetec), and Elena Verdú (Repsol) delivered their greetings during the ceremony, congratulating the graduates.
To conclude, Gianluca Gariani and Piera della Porta from the Collège des Ingénieurs, both actively involved in the project, offered valuable reflections and words of encouragement to the graduates, reaffirming their shared commitment to the program’s ongoing success.
The ceremony celebrated not only the personal achievements of each graduate, but it also represented a key moment for the program itself, which looks forward with confidence to future editions, committed to investing in the education the energy engineers of tomorrow.
