A team of PoliTo alumni and researchers receives the EAGE Ludger Mintrop Award 2023

During the 2023 Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) being held in Wien (5-8 June), the paper "First application of a new seismo-electric streamer for combined resistivity and seismic measurements along linearly extended earth structures" by a group of PoliTO alumni and researchers was awarded the Ludger Mintrop Award as the best paper published in 2022 in Near Surface Geophysics journal.

This represents an important achievement for the Turin scientific community of geophysicists and applied geologists, and for the PoliTO community in particular, since the three authors are all researchers or former students of our University: Alessandro Arato, former Master and PhD student in Enviornmental Engineering at Politecnico and now Senior Geophysicist - 3D applications at Techgea S.r.l.; Federico Vagnon, researcher at the DIATI-Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering at Politecnico; and Cesare Comina, associate professor at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Turin, graduated in Civil Engineering and holding a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from Politecnico.

The Ludger Mintrop Award is presented to the authors of the best paper published in Near Surface Geophysics in the calendar year preceding the award. Winning papers are expected to be of high scientific standard and to represent a significant contribution to one or more of the disciplines in EAGE Association. This paper in particular represents not only a contribution to advances in the capability to monitor key infrastructures for people safety but also witnesses a lively cooperation environment between academia and industry.
