Opportunities to get involved | Horizon SMILE CITY
PoliTO Sustainability Division - STARSQ invites Politecnico's community to take part in a research study in alignment with the University's Mobility Management activities. The study is being conducted by the Department of Public Health and Paediatrics of the University of Turin as part of the European SMILE CITY project, funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme.
The study aims to investigate the relationships between urban mobility, the environment and health, with a particular focus on active mobility.
The objective is to assess personal exposure to air pollution during urban journeys and the potential associated biological effects, by comparing people who regularly use bicycles for their daily journeys with those who travel mainly on foot or by public transport.
The study is open to volunteers aged between 18 and 70, with pregnant women excluded for safety reasons, who either regularly cycle for their daily journeys (at least 3 days per week) or mainly travel on foot or by public transport.
To participate, those interested can express their preliminary interest in participating by completing the dedicated form.
The questionnaire is the responsibility of the academic staff at the University of Turin. After completing the form, interested participants will be contacted to arrange a suitable time for the study activities, which will take place in October. The activities will be organised directly by the researchers from the University of Turin.
