The Raymer Manned Mars Airplane
Daniel P. Raymer, author of the key reference textbook Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach, will present his concept for a manned airplane designed to operate on Mars, once human presence on the planet becomes a reality.
Although the Martian atmosphere is extremely thin, the reduced gravity makes sustained flight possible for a carefully designed aircraft. Raymer’s proposed concept is capable of carrying two people or 500 lbs of cargo in an unmanned mode, with an estimated range of about 1,000 nautical miles.
The seminar is organized in collaboration with AIDAA (Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics).
