A new open-web sandwich slab and its applications in multi-layer and high-rise large-span buildings
On Monday, October 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in the Cavallari Murat Hall (DISEG, Entrance 3 – Third Floor), the seminar “A new open-web sandwich slab and its applications in multi-layer and high-rise large-span buildings” will be held, delivered by professor Hongniao Chen, Deputy Director of the Research Center of Space Structures at Guizhou University (China).
The seminar will address a topic of great relevance and impact for civil engineering: the new open-web sandwich slab and its applications in multi-layer and large-span structures. This innovative technology, developed at the Research Center of Space Structures of Guizhou University, represents a significant advancement in the design of sustainable, efficient, and resilient buildings, with important implications both from a theoretical and practical perspective.
Professor Hongniao Chen, the seminar’s speaker, has extensive academic and research experience in the field of space structures and innovative constructions. She has played a key role in the development and dissemination of these advanced solutions, which are now applied in numerous complex and large-scale projects.
