NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2025

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October 2025, the Innovative Companies Incubator of Politecnico di Torino (I3P) will host the ninth local edition in Turin of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge, the world’s largest annual hackathon dedicated to space and science.

NASA Space Apps is a collaborative event that brings together programmers, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, technologists, and innovators from all over the world. Gathered in hundreds of local venues, participants use open data made available by space agencies to develop innovative solutions to the challenges—scientific and beyond—that humanity faces today on Earth and in space. The global event takes place simultaneously around the world and is open to everyone, free of charge. Each team will choose a challenge to tackle collaboratively, developing open-source solutions that may have real-world applications or become the foundation for new innovative startups, like those I3P has been supporting and guiding for over 25 years.

The Turin edition, organized by I3P, is funded by the Piedmont Region through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and held in collaboration with the ESA BIC Turin incubation program.
In Turin, Space Apps 2025 will kick off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 with participant registration and team formation. The competition will start at 4:00 p.m. and continue for 24 consecutive hours, ending at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, when projects must be submitted. Final pitches will then be presented before the jury, which will assign the Local Awards offered by I3P’s partner sponsors and, for the best projects, the opportunity to compete for NASA’s prestigious Global Awards.

To register and take part in the event, participants must log in with a personal profile on the official NASA Space Apps website, select the Turin local event, and complete the registration. Teams (recommended size: 3 to 5 members) may be formed independently or directly on-site at the beginning of the hackathon.
Please note that participation in the Turin edition will be possible in person only.
