Aperi-TOC²

TOC² – To Common, To Care, a student team by Politecnico di Torino exploring the concept of the commons, mainly in rural and/or marginal contexts, through an empirical and transdisciplinary approach, invites you to an informative and participatory event, open to the student community.

Through participatory design activities, we aim to build an active student community capable of generating concrete transformations by enhancing local spaces and networks for open and collective use of the territory. We propose alternatives to top-down decision-making processes, which are often disconnected from the real needs of local communities. Instead, we emphasize the value of local skills and labor, the empowerment of non-experts, frugality, and the ecological dimension of both design and construction processes.

TOC² is inspired by the European project ASOC (Architecture School of Commons), in which some of our members took part. This initiative promotes collaboration between universities, architectural collectives, and local associations in France, Italy, and Greece, to rethink pedagogical and design models in response to current ecological and social challenges.

Organized as informal aperitif, the appointment will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Castello del Valentino, in front of the Manica Chavalley. It will be a perfect opportunity to get to know the team better, find out about the activities that will be organized (workshops and seminars), and understand how we can make a difference together.
