Biconservative submanifolds - Seminar with Stefano Montaldo (Università degli studi di Cagliari)
Abstract: The initial work on biconservative hypersurfaces traces back to 1995 where Hasanis and Vlachos, proving the Chen’s conjecture for hypersurfaces in R^4, denoted such hypersurfaces as H-hypersurfaces. The term "biconservative" gained official recognition in 2014 through the work of Caddeo et al, who characterized these submanifolds as possessing a conservative stress bienergy tensor. Since then, this theory has garnered significant attention, emerging as a interesting field of inquiry that has actively engaged numerous experts in differential geometry. A noteworthy contribution to this evolving field is the paper "Recent Developments in Biconservative Submanifolds" by Bang-Yen Chen, accessible on ArXiv and published earlier this year, providing a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in this area of study.
