Safety and Rescue Signage

Safety and rescue signage refers to signs, colors, light signals, or acoustic signals that provide an indication or prescription related to safety or health in the workplace.

The use of signage generally serves the following purposes:

La segnaletica di Sicurezza e di Salvataggio

The purpose of safety signage is to quickly and easily communicate a message or important information for the protection of people's health and safety and to promote safe, prudent, and correct behaviors.

It is important that the signals adhere to the standardization of colors, geometric shapes, and graphic signs established at the European level, as well as the guidelines regarding dimensions, sound and light intensity, etc., as set by regulations, which ensure broader perception and understanding of the message, regardless of the language spoken by the recipient.

The SAFETY SIGNAGE related to specific risks present inside laboratories (danger signals, prohibition, obligation, and safety/emergency operational instructions) must be identified following the risk assessment conducted within the premises. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for posting the necessary signs, ensuring their visibility and integrity, removing outdated signs, and preparing, with the support of the PREP, Prevention and Protection Service, the safety and emergency operational instructions, and displaying them.

The SAFETY SIGNAGE (regarding escape routes, emergency exits, gathering points, etc.), as well as that related to fire prevention systems and equipment, is managed by PROGES, with the support of the Service. During construction work that involves creating new spaces or modifying the layout of existing areas, the Service provides support to the relevant technicians for defining the new signage and drafting or modifying evacuation plans. In case of maintenance-only interventions, painting, and those that temporarily remove safety signage, the Site Manager is responsible for ensuring that the signs removed by the company are restored at the end of the work.
