Research in the field of future energy scenarios and energy communities aims to explore innovative energy markets to engage more actively consumers and prosumers including citizens and the public administration. The approach includes the study of emerging distributed renewable energy technologies and distributed energy storage solutions. Another focus is on developing management strategies to efficiently integrate renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and demand response mechanisms. Understanding the dynamics of energy communities is crucial, with research analyzing their social, economic, and environmental aspects (i.e. peer-to-peer energy sharing, local energy markets, microgrids). This analysis sheds insights into the potential benefits and necessary policy frameworks for supporting energy communities.
The research investigates integration of decentralized energy systems, such as rooftop solar panels, small-scale wind turbines, and energy-efficient buildings, into the larger energy grid. This involves exploring optimal deployment and management strategies for distributed energy resources, evaluating their impact on grid stability, energy efficiency, and carbon emissions.
The goal is to advance understanding of emerging energy technologies, optimize energy management systems, analyze energy community dynamics, and explore the integration of decentralized energy systems. By addressing these research areas, sustainable energy solutions can be developed to meet future generations' needs.
