Ergonomics

The research activity is conducted in the field of ergonomics applied to production processes, focusing on the design and management of work processes to reduce the physical and mental workload on the operator, improve well-being and productivity, considering gender aspects and individuals with special needs. Detailed aspects include:

  • ergonomic analysis in virtual environments using digital human modelling software packages (e.g., Siemens Jack) and biomechanical modelling (e.g., AnyBody Modelling ); study of mono and multivariate anthropometric manikins;
  • development of models and experimental measures for assessing physical workloads (posture, force, frequency) in process ergonomics; analysis of perception and cognitive processes in tasks that involve force exertion;
  • methods and tools for assessing the risk of biomechanical overload in work activities, including standardization activities in ISO/CEN;
  • methodologies for evaluating cooperative human-robot work and exoskeletons for industrial applications;
  • ergonomic analysis of vehicle interiors and passenger cabins in aircraft.
