This research area focuses on advanced and sustainable manufacturing. The goal is to develop new technologies and production processes that are efficient and environmentally friendly. Advanced manufacturing is based on the use of digital technologies and automation to improve the efficiency of production and innovative assembly processes, reducing waste and making manufacturing activities sustainable from a social, environmental, and economic perspective. Sustainability, in its various aspects, will also include end-of-life considerations such as recycling and/or reuse of materials and components to reduce raw material and energy consumption.
