Biography

Alessandra Introvaia was born in Catania, Italy.
In 2021, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, with a final project titled “Telemedicine Applications in Italy”.
In 2023, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, eHealth path, also at Politecnico di Torino, discussing a thesis titled “AI-Based Prediction of Treatment Response in Colorectal Cancer Patients Using Digital Pathology”. She also completed further training and gained experience in eHealth, telemedicine, and clinical decision support systems.
Since 2024, she has been working as a Research Fellow at Politecnico di Torino, in collaboration between DIMEAS (Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) and DET (Department of Electronics and Telecommunications). She contributes to several PNRR-funded projects in the fields of bionanotechnology and regenerative medicine (NAPTER, NANOMIRC, MERIT, RECHARGE), developing AI pipelines for microscopy image analysis of in vitro models such as tumor spheroids and cardiac cultures. She is also involved in clinical data modeling and software development for periodontal patient management within the PRIN GUM-GUT project.
Since 2024, she has also been engaged in teaching activities in the courses Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Decision Aid for Personalized Patient Care, and participates in outreach initiatives for high school students (PCTO).
In 2025, she was selected as the Italian national representative in the young-EFMI (yEFMI-LEAD) program for yong researchers.
Since November 1st 2025, she has been a PhD candidate in the Doctoral Programme in "Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences" - 41st Cycle.
Her research aims to promote an integrated approach combining biological experimentation, computational modeling, and real clinical data to develop advanced and clinically meaningful solutions in precision and regenerative medicine. The overarching objective is the development and validation of automated methods for multiscale and multimodal biomedical data analysis to support clinical decision-making.
