Biography

Fiammetta Venuti has a Degree in Architecture and a PhD in Structural Engineering. She is Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering at the Department of Architecture and Design since 2023. She teaches in the course Morphology and concept of structures (in Italian) in the Bachelor’s Degree programme in Architecture and in the Atelier Restauration and integrated conservation in the Master’s Degree programme in Architecture for Sustainability. Her research topics focuses on: i) footbridges: serviceability assessment under human-induced dynamic loading, crowd dynamics, human-structure interaction, modelling of pedestrian dynamic loads, mitigation of human-induced vibrations; ii) gridshells: effects of imperfections, free-edges and grid anisotropy on the stability; holistic performance assessment; iii) masonry vaults: effect of construction issues, such as brick pattern, on the static behaviour under settlement of the supports, through numerical and experimental approach. She received the IABSE Outstanding Paper Award 2007 for the best paper published on SEI Structural Engineering International, the best-lecture second award at the 7th International Fib PhD Symposium in Civil Engineering 2008 (Stuttgart, DE), the IABSE Outstanding Contribution Award at the Young Engineers’ Symposium 2007 (Fribourg, CH) and the Young Engineers Award at the 2nd International Congress Footbridge 2005 (Venezia).
