Biography
Sara completed her studies in Dec. 2024 with a MSc Thesis titled "Long Span Roofs: Design Solutions for Free Edge Barrel Vault Gridshells" (110/110 cum laude).
The study carried out within the MSc Thesis has been presented at the XXIX National Congress of the Collegio Tecnici dell’Acciaio (CTA, Milano, 26-28 Sept 2024).
From June 2024 to Feb. 2025 Sara has collaborated with the engineering company Sintecna s.r.l, where she deepened her knowledge on long-span structures, focusing on the Finite Element Modelling of the long-span roof of the "Arena Santa Giulia" for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Sara is currently enrolled as PhD student in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. The research theme of her PhD Thesis is focused on new methods for design and performance assessment of free form structures, with applications to gridshell structures. The PhD Thesis is developing under the supervision of Luca Bruno, Fiammetta Venuti, Lorenzo Raffaele (DAD, Politecnico di Torino); Francesco Laccone (ISTI-CNR, Pisa); Walter Ceretto (Sintecna s.r.l, Torino).
