Special Talk from Brussels: The Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP)
The first Special Talk from Brussels of the 2026 edition will take place on Tuesday, May 5 at 14:30, focusing on STEP-Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform, an initiative aimed at supporting the development and manufacturing of critical technologies in the following sectors to enhance the EU’s competitiveness and resilience:
• Digital technologies and deep-tech innovation
• Clean and resource-efficient technologies
• Biotechnologies
• Defence technologies
During the meeting, Davide Lombardo, Senior Expert, Competitiveness, Financial Instruments and STEP, and other members of the European Commission’s “STEP team” will provide an overview of the initiative, presenting the European context in which the regional STEP call—expected to be published around mid-May—will be framed, and will be available to answer any questions.
