Plastics recycling: a cross-scale design adventure from system and supply chain to processes and molecules

To achieve a fully circular economy in the plastics industry, mechanical and chemical recycling are both necessary. However, certain polymers can only be chemically recycled. This process involves depolymerization, which creates complex mixtures and presents challenges in separating valuable monomers. The seminar will showcase a computer-aided approach to molecule and process design (CAMPD) and discuss its usefulness in identifying sustainable paths for the chemical recycling of plastics.
