Research on city logistics focuses on the development of innovative models for the distribution of goods in urban contexts in order to improve their overall efficiency. The main objective is to develop sustainable solutions addressing the challenges related to traffic congestion, pollution, and the efficient management of resources. This research field analyzes the most suitable business models and investigates the integration of specific policies and advanced technologies for last mile delivery. Furthermore, feasibility studies for new urban logistics systems are conducted, using simulation approaches that consider the perspectives of all the main stakeholders, both public, such as municipalities, and private, such as logistics service providers and citizens.
